Andrew Caden,

Diarmuid Ó Meachair

and Matt Mulqueen

Fiddle, Button Accordion and Piano

A powerful traditional trio will launch the 2026 "Blarney Star" concert series at the New York Irish Center. Maryland native Andrew Caden has been hailed by no less than De Dannan star Frankie Gavin as today's best young Irish fiddle player. His recent recording with Sligo flute player Conor McDonagh has been reaping rave reviews. Diarmuid Ó Meachair, from Irish-speaking Cúil Aodha in west County Cork, is an utterly astounding button accordionist with a penchant for the old-time style of 78 rpm-era greats P.J. Conlon, John Kimmel and Joe Derrane. Andrew and Diarmuid will be joined by Baltimore-based Matt Mulqueen, a pianist of great talent and taste whose own button accordion playing informs his superb accompaniment.
