SEÁN GAVIN AND
CAOIMHÍN Ó FEARGHAIL

Uilleann Pipes, Flute and More

Seán Gavin and Caoimhín Ó Fearghail form a powerful multi-instrumental duo, one that combines virtuosic technical flair with a deep understanding of Irish traditional music. Uilleann piper and flute player Seán is a Detroit native, one of the musical sons of County Clare fiddler Mick Gavin. The only Yank who has won the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal, he has played with the bands Bua, Téada and NicGaviskey, and recorded superb albums with fiddler Jesse Smith and button accordionist Colm Gannon.

Caoimhín Ó Fearghail (pronounced like “Kwee-veen O’Farrell”) grew up in the Irish-speaking County Waterford gaeltacht. He has been named Young Musician of the Year by the TG4 television network and Best Folk Instrumentalist by RTÉ Radio 1. Extravagantly talented on the uilleann pipes, flute, tin whistle, bouzouki and guitar, Caoimhín is also a sublime singer in the Irish language. He has performed and/or recorded with fiddler Paddy Tutty and the groups Danú and Caladh Nua.
